Considering Individuality
Eclipse #37.1

Art by Eclipse
Our bodies are combinations of billions of organisms which take up highly specified tasks to keep our complicated bodies alive. The human form is beautiful in so many ways. Even though most of us have two hands, two eyes, and two legs, each of our bodies are an immense cocktail of human difference. Each one of us has features physical, biological, and chemical which make us unique from the 8 billion other humans on the planet. Often society clumps us into groups, proscribes identities and personalities, and universalizes experiences. It causes conflict and friction when we expect others to feel just as we do.
Stereotypes cause us to disindividualize people, particularly communities who are already subjected to mistreatment. Forgetting or ignoring the fact that every one of us is an individual promotes universalized treatment of groups of people, which fails to address individual needs.
This collage is dedicated to the vast spectrum of human experience which makes each human being who they are. Art represents the experiences and personalities of its creator, and thus every piece is an original creation- just like the person who made it. The macro and micro differences in our experiences, personalities, and bodies are what make life so dynamic and interesting. It may be hard to see sometimes, but each of us is full of perspectives and ideas, and exploring them together can be an immensely satisfying opportunity.
