On 5/29, fury swept the streets of Eugene as a large crowd demonstrated against police violence in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.
The demonstration, beginning around 8:00pm, began peaceful and quaint, as a local expression of the insurrectionary uprising spreading like wildfire from the streets of Minneapolis.
As the crowd swelled, the tagging began – the first act of property damage in a healthy & rejuvenating spree.
A healthy dose of bashing, breaking, and burning soon followed.
The following morning, work crews attempt to clean up the damages before residents have a chance to witness what has been created.
With copious teargas, police mostly kept the federal courthouse out of harm’s way – aside from a small touch-up here and there, to liven the place up for the time being.
Now, the police work with business owners to assess the damages.
For too long has this rage been kept seething below the surface. Now, it sets the streets alight.
